PE Events

The Lifestyle and Fitness group came to visit us at Hasting Hill. The children enjoyed their assembly, which was all about healthy food choices. Year 5 and 6 then made smoothies using only pedal power.


 
 
 

 

8th July - Rounders tournament

Today, some children from years 4 and 5 attended a Rounders tournament at Farringdon Comprehensive School. Our Rounders team was made up of 9 fantastic players whom went onto winning the tournament! We played 5 initial games before moving onto the semi-final and leading us through to the final. The boys and girls demonstrated a huge team effort and showed support to their peers throughout the afternoon as well as demonstrating excellent sporting skills. What an amazing experience! Miss Hanson was beaming with pride.

 

10th June – Tennis tournament

Today, some children from years 3 and 4 attended a final tennis tournament at Silksworth Sports Complex. The teams who attended were winners from a previous tennis tournament so we knew it was going to be a challenge but exciting! Hasting Hill’s tennis team, who was made up of 10 brilliant players, worked their socks off! The girls began their morning by practising some team based games which allowed them to show off their skills whilst the boys played in their tennis tournament. After that, we alternated then the day came to an end. All of the children were overjoyed when it was announced that we had been placed 4th! What an achievement. Also, a special mention to our two leaders from year 6 who were amazing umpires.

 

11th June – Tennis tournament

Today, some children from years 5 and 6 attended a tennis tournament at Silksworth Sports Complex. Hasting Hill’s team, who was made up of 10 brilliant players, worked their socks off! 20th May – WISE Games

All of KS2 children from Hasting Hill Academy alongside 8 other schools participated in WISE Games. The children began their day by completing a Lap of Honour and singing the National Anthem, beautifully. After that, some children from each school took part in competitive sports which included: javelin, long jump and a variety of sprint races. The atmosphere was phenomenal throughout the day and the children roared supporting their peers. It was an amazing day out and both staff and pupils cannot wait until the next WISE Games! The overall winner was Bexhill Academy, well done to all of those involved!

 

12th May – Sunderland Active 3k Run

Today, a small group of children from KS2 and one KS1 child took part in the Sunderland Active 3k Run. The children  dedicated time with Miss Hanson each week to practise running long distances around the school premises as well as working on their fitness levels in order to complete the run. The children represented Hasting Hill Academy with pride and were absolutely brilliant! Lots of our parents came to support by cheering us all along as well as Miss Hanson, Mrs Walton and Miss Drennan who all took part in the race too. Bring on next year’s event!

 

2nd May – Football tournament

Today, a group of children from years 4 and 5 attended a futsal tournament at the Beacon of Light. The children demonstrated great resilience skills whilst supporting one another throughout the tournament. Unfortunately, we did not win any games today but we are going to continue to practise our skills back at school. Miss Hanson was amazed at the huge effort that was demonstrated.

 

3rd April – Sport and Nutrition

Today, a group of children from KS2 attended a Sport and Nutrition event that took place at the Beacon of Light. The children thoroughly enjoyed learning about keeping their bodies healthy as well as learning about where water comes from by Northumbria Water experts. They also worked alongside the Foundation of Light coaches taking up the challenge of circuit work-outs. This was challenging but lots of fun!

 

2nd April – Sportsability event 

Today, some children from KS2 attended a sporting event that was held at Silksworth Sports Complex. They were able to demonstrate their amazing skills in a game of dodge ball and rounders. It was an amazing and fun day out for all involved.

 

4th March – Hockey tournament

Today, some children from years 5 and 6 attended a Hockey tournament at Silksworth. Unfortunately, the children did not place today but they had thoroughly enjoyed themselves when participating. The children have decided to keep practising their skills back at school, well done everyone!

 

13th February – Futsal tournament

Today, some children from years 5 and 6 participated in a futsal tournament at the Beacon of Light. They fought extremely hard with some wins and some defeats. Overall, they placed 5th place, huge well done!

 

22nd January – Sporting event

Today, some children from years 3 and 4 attended a sporting event that was held at Silksworth Sports Complex. They were able to demonstrate their amazing skills in a game of dodge ball and rounders. It was an amazing and fun day out for all involved

 

2nd November – C4L event

Today, our Movers and Shakers club attended a C4L event which was held at Barnes Park. The children took part in several fun activities which included: shaft building, art work, rowing, meeting an author and a fun 45 minutes on the fair!

 

22nd January – Sportsability

Today, some children from KS2 attended a sporting event that was held at Silksworth Sports Complex. They were able to demonstrate their amazing skills in a game of dodge ball and tennis. It was an amazing and fun day out for all involved.

 

OPAL

It is absolutely fantastic to see one of our pupils working towards his personal target to participate in OPAL. Well done, keep it up!
