“The children of Hasting Hill Academy recently had a dress up day to raise money for the RVI (Royal Victoria Infirmary) children’s cancer unit. Heather Smith aged 11, is in remission having had Leukaemia. £260 was raised by the children. When Heather got the diagnosis, their family lives were turned upside down. Heather has always has a smile on her face and has gone through her treatment with a positive attitude.”
As told by Billy Kirton aged 11, Year 6.
30 children recently went to London for 2 days in May. We stayed in a hotel near Heathrow airport. “The hotel was quite posh” said Declan Scott Yr 6.
We went on a tour round London, taking in the luxurious sights. Then we had a mouth-watering burger meal in Garfunkel’s followed by a show at The Cambridge Theatre. The show was spectacular, and the girl playing the title role, Matilda, was bold! The following day we all went for a ride on The London Eye. From the top we all had a panaoramic view of the main sights. We saw Big Ben, The Houses of Parliament, Wembly’s arch in the distance and Buckingham Palace.
Our journey home was rather long due to being stuck in traffic for hours and hours. We all had the best time of our lives!!
